Mr Cooley
Welcome back students for the 20-21 school year! My name is Mr Cooley and I will be your High School Math Teacher this year at the Alternative Virtual Academy. This is my 8th year teaching and my 2nd year at Perry. I'm married and my wife is also a teacher at Perry. Together we have a wonderful son who will be 2 in September. I attended New York University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and my Masters Degree in Teaching Mathematics.
I am most interested in teaching students how they will use math in their lives. Whether you are creating a budget, starting a business, making investments, buying a home or car, paying taxes, or buying food at the store, we all you math everyday.
Students will learn in a blended learning environment this school year. However, due to the Coronavirus, all Clayton County Schools are starting the year virtually, so to start we will be completely online. We will utilize the Edgenuity online learning platform. While students will complete their assignments in Edgenuity, I will also provide skill building lessons every week through my Google Classroom.
