Mrs. April Woodard

Greetings everyone, my name is Mrs. April Woodard. I am currently serving Clayton County Public Schools as an Early Childhood Education Instructor for the Perry Career Academy. I have been teaching for over 27 years. I was the teacher of the year for Perry Career Academy during the 2016/2017 school year. I have a passion for teaching innovatively and have the ability to bring humor and flair to all that I do. I love to dance and might even occasionally break out into a song. I instruct First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety and ServSafe classes. I am a consultant for child care centers and restaurants nationally. I am also a national speaker at various childcare conferences and love to research. I have formerly been a Future Homemakers of America Adviser during my tenure in the 90s. I am currently a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Adviser for the nationally recognized Perry Career Academy FCCLA. I have served on the FCCLA State and National Executive Council, advising amazing youth leaders that were Region, State and National Officers of FCCLA. My chapter has received regional, state and national recognition as an Honor Roll chapter with distinction among facilitating youth workshops on every level. Academically, I attended Delaware State University and majored in Home Economics, I have a master’s degree from Bowie State University in Guidance and Counseling of Children and I have obtained my doctoral hours from Nova Southeastern University in Child and Youth Studies. I am a single mother of two amazing children. April, who is enrolled at Fort Valley State University and Mark who attends Forest Park High School. I love to line dance, Zumba, serve in my church and community. It is my pleasure to serve and I look forward to educating your child. Smooches!
